Home Invasion in Bradley’s Bank, San Ignacio

Joseph Myvett

There was a home invasion out west in the Bradley’s Bank area of San Ignacio Town. Sixty-two-year-old retiree Dan Williams reported to police that sometime after nine p.m. on Good Friday, he was inside his house with his son when they were accosted by two men; one wielded a machete. The robbers demanded money, but he said he didn’t have. They then escorted his son to a vehicle on the property and this is where it gets interesting. Police say that the robbers retrieved an envelope containing an undisclosed amount of cash from the vehicle and fled. Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett shared details on the aggravated burglary.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Some time after nine p.m., San Ignacio police responded to the call of an aggravated burglary in Bradley’s Bank area of San Ignacio where upon arrival, Dan Williams, sixty-two years retired Belizean reported to them that whilst at his home, his home was entered by two dark complexioned male persons; one of whom was armed with a machete, who threw him to the ground and demanded money. As a result, his son who was at home with him was taken downstairs to his vehicle which was parked in his yard and an undisclosed amount of money was removed from the vehicle that was inside an envelope. So far police are following several leads, but at this point in time we don’t have anyone detained.”
