Still No Arrests for the Murder of Joshua Gallego

Joshua Gallego

There are still no arrests for the murder of Joshua Gallego, which occurred last Thursday evening on North Creek, Belize City.  Gallego was shot in the afternoon and succumbed at the K.H.M.H. hours later, around seven-thirty p.m. while receiving treatment. While in its official capacity, police did not go on record to reveal the motive behind the homicide, it is believed that the murder is a result of rivalry between two gangs from Pen Road and North Creek. At the weekly police press brief today, Inspector Wilfredo Ferrufino gave the media the details of the investigation.

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, C.I.B., Belize City

“Gallego had just left his residence after dropping off his family and was exiting the North Creek Street when a single gunman approached and fired gunshots in his direction which caused the injuries. Sometime around seven-thirty p.m., he succumbed to his injuries. Polcie are investigating the matter; no one is detained.”

“Sir a motive for that murder?”

Wilfredo Ferrufino

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“We don’t have a motive at this time or we won’t discuss the motive at this time.”

Duane Moody

“What is police doing to ensure that there is no kind of retaliation or anything of that sort?”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“Well whenever these incidents occur, the incidents are looked at and of course there are measures put in place; if the need for extra patrols or additional personnel put in the area, then that is done.”

Police have since had mediation with the rival gangs.
