Security Guard at UNO Depot is Robbed by 4 Persons

Alejandro Cowo

Earlier this week reported that two gas depots, belonging to BWEL and TOMZA, were robbed within hours of each other on Tuesday. The culprits got away with an undisclosed amount of cash in both instances. But despite police patrols across the city and along the highways, early this morning, sometime after two o’clock, the UNO depot on the George Price Highway was targeted and the security guard robbed. ASP Alejandro Cowo, at the police brief today, gave the preliminary information from the investigation so far.

“Police were called to the UNO depot located at four and a half miles at George Price Highway where they spoke to the security guard who reported that while he was inside the booth, he was held up by a male person of dark complexion. He was then taken to the back of the building where three other persons gained entry through the back of the fence and as a result, they ransacked the booth and they stole his cell phone and fifty dollars in cash. Fortunately a truck was entering the compound to get refuelled and that is when the security alerted the driver and the four persons ran away from the compound. He escaped unhurt and police is investigating the matter. So far no official report has been made. That is all that we have at this moment.”
