Macario Tzib is Stabbed to Death Inside His San Ignacio House

Macario Tzib

The second murder victim in San Ignacio was Macario Tzib. The security guard’s body was discovered on Monday evening, hours before the murder of Bejerano.  But due of the state of decomposition, it is believed he was killed a few days ago. He was stabbed multiple times and his throat was slit and left on his bed to die.  Tzib is originally from Bullet Tree Village and had moved to San Ignacio years ago to earn a living. Tzib lived alone in the house where he was found dead. News Five’s Duane Moody reports.

Just before five p.m. on Monday, the badly decomposing body of Macario Tzib was discovered on his bed inside this wooden house of Thornley Street in San Ignacio, Cayo. The forty-seven-year-old security guard had been stabbed multiple times and his throat slit sometime on Saturday. He was last seen alive around eleven a.m. that day and the post-mortem suggests that he was killed that same day.

ASP Daniel Iche, O.C., San Ignacio Police Formation

“The scene was processed; the body was transported to the medical college in Burrell Boom where a post-mortem examination was conducted. The pathologist certified the cause of death as hypovolemic shock due to Internal and external exsanguinations as a result of combine cut throat and stab wounds to the chest.”

Tzib is originally from Bullet Tree Village but has been living in San Ignacio for years and worked at the Big H Factory in the west. He lived alone and according to his brother, Macario was single and had no children. Moises Tzib says his brother as far as he knows had no conflict with anyone.

“I only received the news yesterday that they found him dead in his home; I didn’t have much contact with him. So I don’t have much to say about it.”

“How long has he been living here?”

Moises Tzib

“Exactly, I don’t know how long. He has been living in San Ignacio for about four or five years, but he has been moving around renting places. I went over to the forensic place last night with him and they came out that he was murdered. He was stabbed in his back and his chest and they cut his throat. That’s what came out from the forensic.”

So what could have led to the vicious attack on Macario? Both investigators and the family say the motive is unknown at this time.

Moises Tzib

“I spoke to him about a week and a half or two, we spoke and he didn’t tell me anything about having trouble with anybody; that’s what he told me. The only thing he had as a problem is that he used to drink a lot. But when I spoke to him, I told him that he needs to take care of his job; that he needs to report to his job. And he told me I am doing so. The only thing that I do is on my day off or my time off that’s the day that I drink.”

“We have been aggressively investigating this incident. The investigators are on the ground. We are seeking out two persons of interest in this investigation. I would like to appeal to the general public that if they know or saw anything, come forward and assist us with this investigation.”
