Wanted by Interpol, Argentinean Alberto Samid is Expelled from Belize

In the aftermath of a red alert by the International Criminal Police Organization for Alberto Samid, the seventy-one-year-old was detained in San Pedro, Ambergris Caye. Samid, who is wanted in Argentina for tax evasion, reportedly made his way to Belize after he escaped his country through Paraguay. Samid, who goes by the name “King of the Flesh,” reportedly built a livestock company and is accused of creating illegal associations to evade taxes. From what we were able to gather, a criminal case began against Samid back in 1996 by the General Tax Directorate and prosecutors recently requested that he be sentenced to six years and six months in prison. On Saturday, San Pedro police caught up with Samid who has since been arrested and brought to Belize. While police were only able to say that it is an immigration matter, his son, Jose Alberto Samid and family are in country and have lawyered up.

“We are here in Belize and this is happening. Apparently, they want to illegally extradite him. The police are not giving us any information. We don’t know what he is being accused of. We don’t even know where they have him. They are not saying anything. The police are not even attending to the lawyers this is total injustice.”

“Do you know if Argentinean law enforcement has come to take him?”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“Well I don’t know the details in regards to what is taking place at this point, but I know we do have him detained and like I said it is an immigration matter on whatever protocols will be done.”
