Thieves Target A.C. Construction’s Payroll

Wilfredo Ferrufino

A huge sum of money was stolen on Saturday afternoon from A.C. Construction on San Pedro. Around three p.m., the manager, Carlos Jex, was targeted by armed thieves while inside his office in the San Pablo area of the island town. With their faces covered, one of thieves robbed Jex of twenty thousand Belize dollars, which was the day’s payroll for the workers. Police suspect that the thieves were monitoring the businessman’s movement.

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, CIB, Belize City

“Carlos Jex, he’s the manager of A.C. Construction; reported to police that he was at his business place when two male persons entered the business. One was armed and they relieved him of twenty thousand dollars in cash which was the payroll funds. Police are investigating the matter at this time.”

“Obviously he had been watched or they know the movements.”

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino

“Right; that is what we suspect.”

At news time, the money has not been recovered.
