Accident Victim Recovering at K.H.M.H. after He was Knocked Down by Bus

There’s another victim of a traffic accident. Paraiso villager Jose Cortez is recovering at the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital after he was knocked off his motorcycle by a bus driven by Peter Mendoza, an employee of Silva’s Bus Line. The incident occurred between miles eighty-five and eighty-six on the Philip Goldson Highway in Corozal Town. Official information is that the motorcyclist was hit from behind as the bus tried to overtake him on the highway. During today’s police press brief, ACP Joseph Myvett explained more.

“Upon arrival they observed a passenger bus facing south and near the bumper of the bus, a red motorbike was seen extensively damaged. The driver of the bus, one Peter Mendoza, reported to the police that shortly before ten a.m. when he was travelling from the northern border en route to Corozal Town, upon reaching between miles eighty-five and eighty-six, he attempted to overtake a motorcycle that was travelling in the same direction. In so doing, the rider swerved on to the highway and ran into the back of the motorcycle. That person was learnt to be Jose Cortez, forty-five years of a Paraiso Village address, who received bodily injuries. He was transported to the Corozal Community Hospital and later to the K.H.M.H. where he is now in a stable condition. The bus driver has since been served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution whilst the investigation is still ongoing.”
