Hattieville Resident to Stand Trial for Murder of Missing Man

Albert Jones Sr.

Alaine Garcia, a mechanic of Hattieville, went missing and was believed to be dead but his body was never found. In May of 2018, a Hattieville resident Albert Emmanuel Jones Senior was charged for his murder after police claimed he confessed. Today, eleven months after the arrest, a PI before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford ended in his committal for murder so he was further remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison. The prosecutor submitted fifteen statements, including one from the accused and another from the deceased given before his death in which he complained of threats to his life. At the commencement of the PI, Jones told the court that he had admitted to the murder because he wanted to go to jail to see a woman.  But a crucial piece of evidence linking Jones Senior to the murder is a bracelet that police have as exhibit. Jones Senior told the court that it was his. Garcia was last seen on February 2018, when he walked his children to catch the bus. Days later, a search took place, but Garcia was never found.
