Churchgoers Protest Detention of Pastor in Bella Vista

A church leader, who reportedly entered the country unlawfully, remains in the custody of the Immigration Department in Punta Gorda and this morning his flock traveled all the way from Bella Vista to protest his detention.  Carlos Alfredo Gonzalez was picked up this morning and transported to PG for alleged immigration offences.  Our colleagues from PGTV provided us with images of the brief demonstration.

“We are here this morning to manifest this peaceful walk because we are really concerned about the situation that’s happening.  Our pastor, Carlos Alfredo Gonzalez and the mission Enrique Cocom.”

“So Immigration just picked up the man?”

“Immigration just went and picked him out without doing a correct and appropriate investigation.  What we are appealing or requesting of the Immigration Department is to do the right procedures, the right steps.  If he is in any mistake or any error, well that would be the right case, but we need clarification, an explanation why they are doing that without the appropriate investigation.”

“I am concerned because they have detained our pastor of Principe De Paz of Bella Vista and the immigration doesn’t want to give us some money for his way to go back.  So not even a lee snack they would allow us to give him.”
