1 Person Sought for Dangriga Murder of Carlos Noe Reyes

Joseph Myvett

There is finally an official comment from police on the murder of Carlos Noe Reyes. The forty-eight-year-old fisherman from Citron Street in Dangriga was fatally injured in a shooting at his home in that southern municipality on Thursday night. He was along with Sarawee villager Israel Pimentel when they came under gunfire by someone who reportedly escaped in a white vehicle. Today, police were tight-lipped on the motive behind the execution and would only say that the suspected car has been impounded while they are looking for a Belize City resident in connection with the homicide.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“So far we are following several leads and we are seeking one suspect in relation to this murder.”

Duane Moody

“Motive for this murder?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“At this point in time we haven’t been able to establish the motive.”

Duane Moody

“Sir, is Mister Reyes known to the police?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Yes he is.”

Duane Moody

“Could you tell us in what way? Why we are asking is because according to the family, he used to transport people to and from Honduras and that it may have been as a result of an incident that happened several years ago?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“No, I will not go into the details of how he is known to the police other than to say that we are seeking one suspect in relation to the incident.”

Pimentel remains hospitalized at the Southern Regional Hospital in a stable condition.
