Finnegan and Musa Tit-for-Tat

Kareem Musa

In taking the Attorney General’s Ministry to task, Kareem Musa called out the daughter of Mesop Area Rep Michael Finnegan whom he says was involved in a land issue representing government.  He said that at the end of litigation, Justice Michelle Arana ordered government to pay out over sixteen million dollars.  Well, attorney Agassi Finnegan called her dad to set the record straight and here is his response to Musa’s claim.

Kareem Musa, Area Representative, Caribbean Shores

“The Attorney General’s ministry was represented by the daughter of the member for Mesopotamia, attorney Agassi Finnegan.  She represented the AG‘s ministry and the claimant in this case was represented by Ms. Naima Barrow.  Now what happened in this case?  A parcel of land in Belmopan was acquired for a so-called public purpose, we don‘t know if it actually went to a public purpose.  But what happened in this case?  The attorney for the government signed an affidavit conceding, Ms. Finnegan signed an affidavit as a Crown Counsel in the Attorney General‘s ministry acknowledging that they have to pay this company, Belmopan Land Development Corporation Ltd.  And so there was no fight, no fight at all, Barrow on one side, Finnegan on the other, and you know Mr. Speaker, how much Justice Arana ordered in just this one case?  Sixteen million, ninety-nine thousand, three hundred and six dollars.”

“Well my daughter called me, Madame Speaker, and my daughter said to me that that is the most dishonest, worthless statement a member of this house can make because she was never involved with that case as the attorney for the government.  So he made that up Madame Speaker.  He made that up, that‘s why yoh stop dehn from call people name eena dis house Madame Speaker because Agassi Finnegan was never involved in the case on behalf of the Government of Belize when it come to Belmopan Land Development.  He is worthless and ih liad Madame Speaker.  Madame Speaker, but he tried to pine a story like this, ih tried to make ih look like the crowns representing the government were lightweight, dehn noh know weh dehn di do.  Dat da weh ih set out fi do.”
