A security guard at the Central Bank is tonight eighty-nine thousand dollars richer. Supervisor Michael Berry was the man holding the winning combination for the Lotto jackpot all along. After taxes, Berry takes home exactly eighty-nine thousand, two hundred and fifty dollars. When he picked up his check, Berry told News 5 he found out he won the Lotto when he went to work.

“Actually there was no feeling, I just took it light and kept cool, like I usually am. I just thank the Lord that he blessed me with this opportunity.”

Ann-Marie Williams

“Was it a quick pick, or you chose the numbers yourself?”

Michael Berry

Wednesday night I was my son’s birthday and we sat around the table and started writing out numbers. He wrote out the numbers, and when I went to work Thursday morning and asked who won the Lotto or if anybody even won. They told me, yes. I asked what were the numbers and when they gave me about three numbers, I asked if they were sure. I asked for the rest and they said they thought it was twenty. I told them to check it, so we called the hotline and they got the twenty. I said I have that ticket in my car, so I went and got it and just kept cool. Everybody at the bank started saying “boy I hear you win the Lotto.”

Ann-Marie Williams

“You didn’t check from at home though? When you woke up Thursday morning it didn’t cross your mind for you or your son to say, “Let me see if my dad won the Lotto?”

Michael Berry

“No. I normally buy and would just wait a day or two to before I really check.”

Ann-Marie Williams

“Have you looked back and thought how much money you would have had had you saved all the money you bought Lotto with from you started buying?”

Michael Berry

“I’ve bought over five hundred dollars. I have all of them stacked home on a little pin. I normally buy four and three tickets.”

This time around Berry had purchased six tickets at the Lotto office on Bishop Street in Belize City. An elated Michael Berry says he’ll use the money for his son’s education and to pay off some bills.
