CitCo Unveils a New Look

Stephanie Lindo Garbutt

The City Council today also had a soft launch of the new brand for the council. Those changes to the brand are reflected in the colour schemes use throughout the city council’s buildings, as well as uniforms and the re-naming of the sanitation team. Lindo Garbutt explains what those changes mean for the identity of the council.

Stephanie Lindo Garbutt, Administrator, Belize City Council

“Stemming from the colour scheme for the new city hall, the mayor and its council believe it is a genuine step towards modernizing the city. If you notice, it is not branded in any political party colour and we thought it would be exceptional to spread through-out the council because running the city and managing the city certainly exceeds any party lines. We have upgraded council’s uniforms. When we took office, our sanitation staff was using t-shirts to carry out their daily work and those fade after a while. But at the same time you have to consider occupational safety and health and it presents a certain hazard at the end of the day. The Mayor and his council looked at how to improve the safety of the workers when they are out there working in the sun all day. So, we have created coveralls for them. We have also changed the name from sanitation to calling them operational support.”

As a part of its branding, the City Council is also hosting a flag design competition that speaks to the vision and mission of the branding concept of the council. The deadline for the submissions is April twelfth and the winner will get one thousand dollars. If you would like more information on the flag design contest, you can reach out to the Belize City Council.
