ComPol on Crash Landed Drug Plane in Mexico

Mexican authorities continue to investigate the crash landing of a drug plane in fields near San Pedro Peralta, located south of Quintana Roo, Mexico. The pilot remains in a critical condition at the military hospital in Chetumal, while his passenger perished at the scene. The identity of the two men has still not been released, but reports are that the plane was carrying approximately one ton of cocaine; its projected destination was the United States. The Mexican Federal Authorities also indicated that they began trafficking the Cessna aircraft by radar from southern of Belize, but it began experiencing mechanical issues and crash landed. Today, News Five asked ComPol Chester Williams to comment on the incident.

“Yes of course we have been doing an exceedingly good job in terms of tracking these planes that want to do clandestine landings in Belize and our effectiveness have caused many of these planes to divert and go to either Guatemala or Mexico. And yes that plane was one of such plane. It passed through our airspace, we didn’t give it any opportunity to land, it went to Mexico, it ran out of fuel I am told and it crash landed. Mexican authorities made the bust and for us that is a success as well.”
