Why Didn’t the Investigation include the Sender from San Pedro?

Joseph Myvett

It is not the first time that local airlines are being used to transport illicit cargo across the country; in fact, the police department has intercepted packages carrying suspected drugs, including marijuana and contraband, multiple times at the Corozal airstrip and elsewhere. Today, the media questioned why the scope of the investigation did not include the sender from San Pedro and his wife who was to receive the package.

“Why was it not considered for the drugs or the suspected drugs to reach its destination so that more persons could have been corralled in this particular investigation or operation?”

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Yes in some sense, but the officers on the ground took the decision, which they believe was the best decision at that point in time.”

“On this one, do you all believe this has been a frequent transhipment route and that the players in it have some experience or exposure with this particular means of moving illicit substances?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Well I am not going to speculate on that other than to say what I had already said that there had been both seizures in San Pedro as well as Corozal and other places in relation to this type of activity.”

“But involving these particular players in this?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“I do not know.”

As we said, both Menzies and Cal are out on eight-thousand dollar bails which attorney Kathleen Lewis was able to secure for them from Justice Francis Cumberbatch. The men are due back in court on May eighth.
