RECONDEV Will Not Allow Squatters

On Thursday, Salvapan resident Nicolasa Cus and her family were left without a roof over their heads after the house they were living in for several years was dismantled. Residents took to social media to complain that the treatment of Cus was inhumane since the children continue to be left exposed to the elements.  The property on which the house stood is the property of RECONDEV and Cus had been issued several notices of eviction. But Cus did not move, saying that she had attempted to buy the land from RECONDEV, which issued a press statement today. RECONDEV says that Cus had illegally settled on the piece of land. While Cus stated that she purchased the piece of land from a person whom she could not identify, RECONDEV says that the land has never been transferred to anyone. The release says that RECONDEV had attempted on several occasions to get in contact with Cus, but all efforts proved futile.  The press release states, “While RECONDEV is very conscious and concerned with the humane part of this unfortunate event we believe that Miss Cus has been and is being ill-advised by persons who claim that they have her best interest at heart.” RECONDEV says it will not tolerate squatting. More than five hundred applications are in a queue for the corporation’s approval and according to RECONDEV; Cus cannot be allowed to jump this queue.
