Micah Responds to Being Benched from CitCo

Micah Goodin

Councilor Micah Goodin has been benched from his responsibilities with the Belize City Council, following an altercation during which he dressed down City Administrator Stephanie Lindo-Garbutt, before leaving City Hall in a fit of rage.  Goodin had gotten a budget green lighted for a pending sporting initiative which he had proposed to caucus the night before.  When his sports director reportedly approached Lindo-Garbutt to receive approval for payment to be disbursed, he was turned back because the proper procedures for the requisitioning of disbursement were not being followed.  Goodin stormed out of the office, reprimanding the city administrator.  On his way out, the councilor also got into a verbal tirade with another member of staff which ended with a commotion near the entrance.  Since being sidelined on Friday, Goodin has taken to social media where he has expressed his frustrations with the council.  In a Facebook post, he wrote, “The bigger heads loved me on the campaign trail because the common people could have identified with my struggle.  The bigger heads loved me even more when I received the second most votes countrywide and helped to carry the team to the finish line.  But yet they did not want me to sit at the table when all was said and done.  They do not care for the youth.  They only use us to win elections.” Mayor Bernard Wagner says that Goodin’s removal from active duty with the Belize City Council is indefinite.
