Payments to be Made to Paulette Elrington Only Up to End of February

Paulette Elrington

Financial Secretary Joseph Waight says that his office has received notice that Paulette Elrington has resigned from her post with the Foreign Service. Waight told reporters today that Elrington willingly resigned her position and that becomes effective this month. He says that monies will be paid to Elrington up until that period. Here’s how he explained it.

“My understanding is that Ms Elrington has resigned. I think the resignation date is at the end of February so she should get paid up until that period of time. Of course, there is other benefits that she may be entitled to, vacation leave or whatever. But I understand that the resignation is in. It is her choice. She has gone to further her studies and we wish her well. And, that hopefully will be the end of this story.  There is a resignation process that goes back to the terms of contract which is standard. There is notice period depending on – when a person resigns they give notice and in lieu of notice sometimes I think they have to make a payment; so many months of notice; or so many weeks of payment and then you separate and get whatever benefits you may be due accumulated up to that point in time. So, I understand it is an amicable departure and we move on. Of course we have to get a replacement for her at some stage – we being the government – and we wish her well.”
