FIFA’s Forward Fund 2.0

Earl Jones

FIFA is also making available to the country access to twelve million dollars over the next four years, from 2019 to 2022, to assist the federation with these projects. That assistance is extended to all member countries across the world. Jones explains how the process works and the accountability measures which come along with it.

Earl Jones, General Secretary, F.F.B.

“Under the first phase of the FIFA Forward Fund 1.0 which ran from 2015 to 2018, FIFA had made available more funds for projects and less for operational. However, for the new cycle, 2019 to 2022, FIFA has increased the operational budget, however, we must increase the level of competitions that we are playing and the amount of tournaments that we are playing throughout the course of the year and they have decreased the infrastructure, the project monies. So we must now run more competitions because we are given more money to run these competitions. That trickles down to three million dollars for the next four years. That money is broken down to be spent on operations, competitions and projects. The spending of FIFA Forward Funds is project driven. It is based on strict compliance and it is subjected to various audits during the course of the year. It is funds that must be used for the specific purpose that we have applied for them for.”
