Police to Inspect Gun Dealers’ Premises to Ensure Compliance

Chester Williams

And while the fate of Victor L. Bryant’s license hangs in the balance, today Commissioner Williams warned all gun dealers to ensure that they are complying with the law, in order to prevent such reoccurrence.

Chester Williams, Commissioner of Police

“We really and truly have to take a serious look at gun dealers to ensure that they are in compliance with the law as it relates to how firearms and ammunition are to be kept. I am sounding the warning now that we will be doing inspections at the other gun dealers to ensure that there is conformity as it relates to how these firearms and ammunition are to be kept before it is sold to any person who would normally go and buy from them. One of the inventory checks that we normally do is that whenever one of the gun dealers brings firearms through it goes through Customs and so they would have an inventory of all the firearms that they would have brought in. The gun dealer would then have a ledger where he enters every firearm that is being sold and to whom it is sold to. He would then have to have a copy of the firearm license approval to show that the person to whom the firearm was sold does have a license. So, I think the system there is not too bad. But I think there are still things that need to be done to strengthen certain aspects of the process. So we will be looking at that to ensure we have a more check and balanced system as it relates to these gun dealers. We would want to imagine that every gun dealer who would have that amount of firearm within their premises, that those firearms will be kept in a strong house and not just like that in a building open. It is far from acceptable and because of that we need to take a second look at other gun dealers.”

Wow! No wonder so much senseless killing. Guns should only be sold to businesses, for protection of their property and people who visit their.
