Belize Does Not Support U.S. Interference in Venezuela

So while the statement at the O.A.S. by Belize was sanctioned, according to DPM Faber, Belize will not support any type of intervention or interference from any international superpower, such as the U.S.  He says that Venezuela has the right to self-determination without political, economic or military interference from other world states.

Patrick Faber

Patrick Faber, Acting Prime Minister

“Belizeans should know that our Belizean Prime Minister was a key part in those discussions to come up with the CARICOM position. While it is a CARICOM position, I think there must have been two countries- I think Hattie and the Bahamas were two countries that put out their position independently and they are in support of Guaido of course. Belize and the rest of CARICOM made its position known to the UN. Of course that position is that we do not support that kind of intervention that the United States is putting forward. We believe in a country’s right to its own self determination. So while that is not commenting on any kind of human rights issues or problems that Venezuela may be undergoing we do value and recognize the fact that they have the right to determine their own government without interference from a larger power. That has been our position. It is the position of CARICO as well that we don’t support that kind of intervention and interference. We are hoping that cooler heads prevail and that there will not be any kind of military intervention or any kind of intervention that is going to see hardship to our area of the world or region because Venezuela is in our region.”

Im a Belizean living currently on the Brasil-venezuelan border, I lived for 6 years in Venezuela and I can assure you, that the situation in Venezuela is not at its best. I guarantee you that the amount of Venezuelans fleeing is alarming, this is due to lack OK basic food items, toiletries and medications. I was a senior coordinator at the hospital in the border town of Santa Elena de Uairen, and now im working on the Brazilian side and really and truly there are NO medications to treat common ailments.
How can Belize support a government who is killing it own people? No freedom of expression, starvation just for cheap petroleum? I believe its a shame.. Who feels it nows it. Remember that Guatemala is an ally with the US government!
