Former Mexican President Vicente Fox Meets with PM Barrow

Mexico’s former President, Vicente Fox, was on a brief visit today. Fox’s visit was unannounced, but the government offered him courtesies. A very short release says the fifty-fifth president met with Prime Minister Barrow. That meeting was at the Laing building and Fox was accompanied by friends who are businessmen and potential investors. The photos released by the press office show the PM meeting with the Fox delegation. The Mexicans also visited several sites in the city and departed this afternoon on a commercial flight.  A day ago, Fox tweeted about the visit from the international airport in Mexico City. He first came to Belize as president-elect in 2000 when Prime Minister Said Musa was in office. Musa also attended his inauguration in Mexico City. Fox returned to Belize in 2005 for a state visit and was awarded the Order of Belize.  Since leaving office, Fox has been vocal on a number of issues and not too long ago, he tweeted support for the commercialization of marijuana. That tweet was met with huge controversy and more recently, he has been critical of Manuel Lopez Obrador, the new president of Mexico.
