ComPol Williams Hosts 1st All Senior Officers’ Conference

Chester Williams

It’s been a while since senior police officers from across the country would converge to be debriefed and plan strategically for the future. Today, the first all-senior officers’ conference under the leadership of the new Commissioner of Police Chester Williams was held at the Police Training Academy. It will now be held twice a year with the purpose for senior officers to discuss issues affecting the department and to find solutions. So, presentations were made by media personnel as well as senior officers holding administrative roles within the department. Williams says that the one hundred and thirty plus officers in attendance were also brought up to speed on the new changes in department’s administration.

“I know that the officers have been seeing a number of movement with senior officers moving here and maybe wondering what is going on and I just see fit that it is right that we bring them together and explain to them the different changes—who is in charge of what and who is in charge of where. And so that’s one issue; to bring them up to date with where we are with that transition. Secondly is where I am explaining to the officers what is the way forward in terms of tacking the crime problem. And to let them understand what is expected of them in order to ensure that we fulfil our mandate in reducing crime, particularly the murders for this year.”
