No More Clues into Anisha’s Disappearance

Anisha Young

Earlier this week, the family of missing woman Anisha Young said they believe she is dead. The family indicated that they want to speed up the process of testing the DNA to get some closure on the matter. Today, ASP Alejandro Cowo told the media that the authorities have not had any further clues into the case since the last time they found skin and hair extension in a shallow grave in the Maskall area. Cowo says he met with the family last week to say that the forensic lab stands willing to provide them with a sample from the remains collected. The only catch is if the family does the testing independently, anything they uncover will not be added as evidence to police’s investigation. He explains.

“Yes, I do understand their frustration, however, they know that Mr. Williams has assured them and I have assured them that if they have any other information that they can always contact us to give us that information so that we are always there to assist them.”

“Did the family indicate to you that they would prefer to pay for the DNA testing to be done because they don’t want to wait six months to have results come back while the case is growing colder?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Yes. Mr. Espat, I believe he is representing the family, has approached me and asked if we can provide them with the DNA testing fee. I informed them that we do not deal with it. It is the forensic lab that deals with that. I also mentioned that the lab is willing to give them a sample of the remains if they want to do an independent analysis. However, in the event that is done and we have a breakthrough in the case, it cannot be used as a part of the evidence. It has to follow the police procedures and the guidelines that we follow.”
