Squatters Are Served Eviction Notice in Belama Phase Four

Several families in the Belama Phase Four community are facing eviction tonight after being served with a letter two weeks ago informing them that they are illegally occupying property belonging to an Asian businessman.  The cluster of houses located on Yvonne Massiah Street sits on a parcel of land whose purported owner is now requesting that they be dismantled and removed within one month.  Today, a team of surveyors led by Alex Chang, on behalf of Fen Lan Development Company, descended on the area.  This evening, News Five caught up with one of the squatters who says that her family has been living on that piece of land peacefully for the past ten years.
