Belize Peace Movement Upbraids Fantastic Five Foreign Ministers
On the heels of a historic show of support by five former foreign ministers on Wednesday, all in support of voting in favor of going to the I.C.J., the Belize Peace Movement has issued a release. The organization, which describes itself as a patriotic and non-political initiative, criticizes the signing of the seven-point declaration as, “another desperate attempt to influence Belizeans to vote yes to the I.C.J. With only nine-two days left to referendum date on April tenth, and with more Belizeans joining the no vote, Wednesday‘s soap opera is the latest in the recent string of desperate attempts by government after ten years of failure to conduct a proper and impartial public education effort on the Guatemalan issue.” The Belize Peace Movement says it will be holding a press conference next week.
