Search along Old Northern Highway is Fruitless, Still No Signs of Annie

Anisha Young

Another futile attempt at locating the remains of twenty-three-year-old Anisha Young, despite investigators following all leads forwarded to the C.I.B. office in Belize City.  On Wednesday, officers combed an area in northern Belize District where they were told her body may have been buried.  That effort, after raking through a swath of land, was fruitless.  While police are optimistic that the employee of Voyse International may still be alive, they have been unable to find her.  Earlier today, Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo gave an update on the search for Annie Young, who has been missing since December ninth.

“We are still working on that.  We received a lead yesterday and we were in the vicinity of the Old Northern Highway by the Maskall Road where we did an extensive search of the area, but again it yielded nothing.  Any little lead that we get we are following it up.”

“Is there any report or any sign that gives hope of finding her with any life?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Well we still have the hope that she might be alive.  We are hoping for the best, but as time is going the hope is becoming a little less every time, you know.”

“But are you guys just sitting back and letting this play out or are you intensifying your search in trying to gather phone records from this young lady or trying anything different?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“We have been looking into several leads, that’s why I am telling you that every new information that we get we are following it up.  Based on our investigation yesterday of a new development, that is why we went to the Maskall Area.”

“What’s the status of the boyfriend?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Well, as I mentioned, he was discharged from police custody from last week.”

Andrea Polanco

“Sir, is there anything at all to indicate if Annie’s disappearance is connected to any crime recently committed?”
