S.I.B. Releases November’s Economic Figures

The cost of living dipped marginally in November, as consumers prices went down by point zero two percent.  That’s according to the Statistical Institute of Belize which has released the Consumer Price Index for last month.  The average Belizean household saw a slight decrease in the cost of regularly purchased goods and services.  While the rental of homes, doctor consultations and Liquefied Petroleum Gas were up, those increases were offset by lower transport costs when compared to the same period in 2017.  In November, however, imports shot up by seven point two percent, while domestic exports were also up by twenty-six point two percent.  The Mineral fuels and lubricants category rose sharply by almost sixty-six percent from thirteen point one million dollars to twenty-one point seven million dollars when compared to the same time frame.
