200 Jingle Boxes for Needy Families this Christmas

The Jingle Boxes are ready for distribution to deserving families courtesy of Bowen and Bowen Limited. Each box of goodies contains treats to make Christmas for the families a happy occasion. The first set is for children living with HIV/AIDS. Here’s that story with News Five’s Isani Cayetano.

“It is actually the eighth year for this, but we know how important it is for families and one of the things that we’ve done is actually sourcing organizations to select different families to provide for them the Jingle Boxes.  Now what is a Jingle Box?  It’s actually a Christmas initiative, a box with groceries that would eventually take care of business for Christmas Day.”

That kind gesture on the part of the Bowen and Bowen Ltd. will go along way for several needy families who will be receiving the generous donation in the days ahead.  Hand in Hand Ministries has been tapped to distribute Jingle Boxes to families affected by HIV/AIDS.

“Hand in Hand Ministries Outreach Program is a program that works with children and families who are infected and affected with HIV/AIDS and we have about seventy-five children in our program right now and a month ago we were informed that we were supposed to identify ten families, and that was done a month ago.  And so, from that list that’s how we got our children, the families.  We identified them and we notified them already.”

While those families anxiously await their boxes, the World Pediatric Project is also preparing to deliver as many as thirty boxes across the city.

“We save and heal children in Belize and in very impoverished situations.  I was sharing with the staff that yesterday we were texting the patients and they were calling back and saying, “Oh my goodness.” They are so thankful.  But for us, I think it is important to thank the sponsors and the people that spearhead this program.  The staff, to me, is a true reflection of what the management has instilled in them and both the Bowen family has always been huge supporters of our programs.”

The initiative is led by the staff of Bowen and Bowen and whatever they are able to come up with in food items is matched by the company.  A total of two hundred boxes will be distributed across the country this Christmas. Reporting for News Five, I am Isani Cayetano.
