Healthy Living: Health Gifts

For many of us Christmas feels like a time of indulgence. There’s lots of food, lots of drinks and lots spending. We’re sure many of you are still struggling to complete your shopping lists. So, in tonight’s healthy living we’ll showcase a few options for your health conscious loved ones or for those who are planning on setting healthy goals for 2019. Here it is:

‘tis the season of gift giving. If you’ve a got a loved one who’s health conscious then, in the spirit of health and fitness, we have a few gift suggestions that may make your shopping a bit easier.  First: a gym membership.  This is good for someone you know will use it as it’s an investment. There are a few options available around the city but we checked out what the Radisson had to offer.

Pat Lamb

Pat Lamb, Director of Sales, Radisson Hotel & Marina

“With the Lamanai Fitness Center here at the Radisson, we have a number of membership options. We do our monthly membership and we also have 3 month membership and we have a yearly membership. All of these have different price packages. The monthly membership the price is $150 and you have a registration fee of a hundred dollars. Three month membership we have is three months plus the registration fee.”

The price tag for 6 months is 600 plus half off the registration fee and one year is 900 with no registration fee. Membership includes pool access and use of the gym’s locker and shower facilities. If you’re looking for a deal and if it fits your loved ones schedule there’s one other affordable option.

“We have a special membership which we refer to as the housewife or executive special. That restricts you to use the facility between 8:30 to 4 because that is the time of the day when the gym is underutilized and there is a special price for that for the year which is $500, waived registration and you also get the use of the pool.”

If your loved one is not quite as dedicated to the gym but health conscious. Then one of the latest health gadgets may be what you’re looking for.

Karan Sabnani

Karan Sabnani, Director, Cellular World

“Everyone is health conscious now, you have apple watches, fiber versas, we have wireless headphones we have beats, non-beats. Everyone wants these wireless headphones now to run. We have wireless and non wireless we also have armbands so that you can have your phone or small device and you want it to run with you have it to strap around your hand or waist. You know.”

These types of gadgets can run from one hundred dollars to over a thousand dollars like the latest Apple Watch. But, Cellular World noticed the rising interest in heath gadgets and a few months ago launched their very own budget line.

Karan Sabnani

“This year we have launched our own line of smart watches. It is more affordable. It is similar to an apple watch or Fitbit but obviously it is a lower price. You have things like that that you can get for a hundred to a hundred fifty dollars that you can actually get your heart rate monitor, count your steps for your running, your swimming or if you’re someone who wants to get young messages while you’re running you can actually get it on your device as well.”

The final gift suggestion can suit any of your loved ones. It is the ultimate destressor: spa treatments.

“It is a wonderful thing to give them because they’re really benefitting from it. Other than just a material thing that may just sit in their house and not be put to use.”

Sea Shelz Spa in Belize city offers a full range of services for men and women of all ages.

Shelby Musa

“We do different massages, Swedish, therapeutic, you can do hot stone, deep tissue we also do just a back neck shoulder, if you don’t have much time that just takes half hour. We do reflexology which focuses on the feet the hands and the head. We also do facials. Teenagers go through puberty and they suffer with acne a lot. Regular facials will help a lot with that the heat and the sweat and teenagers don’t stick to a routine. They don’t clean their face enough. They can come and take advantage of our services. We would want to accommodate them and help them with anything they are going through.  Once you try it once you’re not going to be disappointed. It’s not something you would say you didn’t life I feel personally. It’s always something that you’re going to enjoy and you’re going to want to come back for more.”

In the end it doesn’t matter what you spend; the support offered to anyone on their health journey will be well appreciated.
