Kyle Chaplin is Arraigned for Shooting at Cops

Tonight, Ghost Town area resident, twenty-seven-old Kyle Chaplin, is on remand at the Belize Central Prison after being charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a firearm upon four police officers.   Chaplin is accused of shooting at three constables and a corporal on December ninth, 2018 on an unnamed Street off Mayflower Street, Belize City. He is being charged with aggravated assault upon Kris Staine, Fredrick Fraser and Morris Castillo. Chaplin pleaded not guilty to all charges, but was denied bail and remanded into custody at the Belize Central Prison until February, 2019.  According to police, they were in the Mayflower Street area when they came under fire; they returned fire at the suspect, but missed. The suspect escaped, but was later captured by police.   Police say six, nine millimetre expended shells were retrieved from the scene of the shooting.
