When is the Next Super Sale Zone in Downtown Belize City?

Bernard Wagner

This coming Saturday, the Belize City Council will be launching its first ever tree lighting ceremony at the Battlefield Park in downtown Belize City.  A forty-foot Christmas tree will be erected as part of the rejuvenation plan to bring residents back to the downtown area for their shopping needs. About a month ago, the council launched its super sales that would see businesses along Albert Street provide greater deals in order to boost the economy in the area and encourage shoppers to take advantage. After two successful ventures, another was proposed ahead of the Christmas holidays. Mayor Bernard Wagner told media today that that was postponed to the end of January.

“We just had a meeting with the business owners yesterday evening. Both of the super sale zones were extremely successful and we can’t wait to get it off the ground for the next year. However, after meeting with the business owners last evening, I think the decision was made that they already have adequate traffic already for the entire Christmas season. And so, instead of really filling up the calendar they would prefer if we put off the next super sale zone until the end of January.”
