I.M.F. looks at Belize’s financial situation

For the next two weeks, representatives of the International Monetary Fund will be in Belize conducting an assessment of the state of Belize’s economy. According to a government spokesman, the special visit follows a presentation made to the I.M.F. by Belize on the impact of two hurricanes and the implications of September eleventh on the country’s development. The I.M.F. team will be looking at several areas, including the government’s five year economic plan and the tight foreign exchange situation. The bank will be making its recommendations for a way forward later this year as part of its regular assessment of Belize.
