Teenage Minor Held for Deadly Shooting in San Pedrito

Cyril Jones

Police believe they have cracked the latest murder in San Pedro. Late this evening, a fourteen-year-old minor was charged for the execution of Cyril Jones, a thirty-seven-year-old BWS employee who was targeted at his home on Tuesday night. The minor is among several persons held since Tuesday after the deadly incident in the San Pedrito area of the island town. Of the volley of gunfire that were let loose in his direction, a single bullet caught Jones in the face, fatally injuring him on his veranda. The father of two died on the spot as his wife and children sat inside the house. Earlier today, police provided more details.

Insp. Wilfredo Ferrufino, C.I.B., Belize City

“On November thirteenth, Tuesday, police were called out to the San Pedrito area of San Pedro Town, sometime around 7:40 p.m.  Upon arrival at a two storey structure they found the body of Mr. Cyril Jones with an apparent gunshot wound.  He was lying on the front doorway for his residence.  From what police have learned so far is that Mr. Jones was at home with other family members when he heard a whistling.  He looked out of the door and that was when he was fired upon and received the fatal injury.  The investigation yielded the detention of several persons and there should be an arrest at the end of the day or before the end of the day.”
