Accused Murderer Found Not Guilty

Warren Lewis

Twenty-seven-year-old Warren Lewis became a free man on Wednesday night after he was found not guilty of murder. Lewis stood trial for the 2009 killing of twenty-two-year-old Albert Allen. After a three-hour deliberation, a jury of four men and eight women told Supreme Court Justice, Marilyn Williams, that they found Lewis not guilty of the crime. Allen was shot on the back; his killer also slit his neck and rammed a stick down his throat before disposing of his body at a dumpsite at mile four of the George Price Highway. The prosecution’s main evidence during the trial was Lewis’ caution statement in which he confessed to killing Allen. In court, however, Lewis testified that he gave the caution statement under duress, explaining that he was badly beaten by police officers to confess. Lewis was represented by attorney Darrell Bradley, while the crown was represented by Rene Montero.
