P.U.P. City Council to ‘Blanket the City with the New Manhole Coverage’

Bernard Wagner

The P.U.P. Belize City Council has also made plans to address the city’s manhole problem. Mayor Wagner says that the manholes will soon be covered while the council embarks on several infrastructure ventures over the course of the next few months. Wagner also stated that social infrastructure is a major factor in the council’s plan forward.

Bernard Wagner, Belize City Mayor

“Infrastructure continues: the manholes. They made a big contract, paid a big money. The manhole covers never did get done and then the people are coming and the social security loan is still there. We have to pay that right C.A.? And we are paying it. Exactly. No manhole covers but they have manhole contract on the books. Please. This is what we are working on right now. These are the new manhole covers and we will blanket the city with the new manhole coverage. Social infrastructure, we campaigned on a social infrastructure platform so we collaborated with the IDB to establish the Olympic model hood links program. This is an after school program which focuses on improving the living conditions and coexistence of children and young people ages six to eighteen in fie disciplines: basketball, football, softball, karate and boxing. This program is well underway.”
