High-Powered Rifle and Ammo Seized; Police Looking for 1 Suspect

Did police foil yet another drug operation on the Coastal Road? Over the weekend, police spotted and pursued a number of persons traveling in a SUV near White Ridge on the Coastal Road.  Cops say that they approached the heavily tinted SUV without license plate, but the vehicle took off towards the sea.  Shortly after, six dark complexion men exited and made good their escape into bushes. A search of the area led to the discovery of an automatic assault rifle and forty-seven live rounds. Police say they have impounded the vehicle and are now looking for one person who is connected to the vehicle. Just two weeks ago, a joint operation between police, the B.D.F. and coastguard led to the detention of twelve Guatemalans and a Belizean after an abandoned SUV was found on the Coastal Road with more than a thousand pounds of cocaine. ACP Joseph Myvett says in this case there were no drugs in the area.

The officers on the scene reported that as many as six or seven heavily armed men. Back up was requested and the entire area was searched where an assault type rifle with two magazines containing a total of forty-seven point two twenty-three rounds were found in the area.
