Police Seek a Second in Murder of Lamont Lipka in San Pedro

Tracey Betancourt

American national Lamont ‘Monty’ Lipka was shot and killed inside his restaurant in San Pedro on May thirteenth.  Since then, investigators have been working carefully to unravel the whodunit mystery.  Earlier this week, their diligence paid off with the arrest of twenty-one-year-old Tracey Betancourt whom they believe had a hand in Lipka’s demise.  While police have taken Betancourt into custody, a second male suspect is being sought.  Earlier today, Assistant Superintendent Alejandro Cowo provided additional information on the progress of the murder investigation.

“Tracy Betancourt, twenty-one-years-old Belizean of San Mateo San Pedro.  She was arrested and charged for the crime of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, along with another male person that has not been detained.  This is in reference to the shooting death of Mr. Lamont Lipka which occurred on May 13th, 2018.”

“Okay now, sir.  Right after that murder, like two days after, she was arrested for possession of unlicensed ammunition that was found in a hotel room that she had, that was in her name.  Explain to me how is it that she, we know she was not the shooter because the shooter was a male, how is it that she came to be charged for these charges when the only thing we know about her is that two days later she was responsible for a room where ammunition was found?”

“Well that was based on the information [that] police conducted.  There are other evidence that the police have that indicate that she was part of that shooting.”

“So she was actively involved in orchestrating the…”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“That’s the information that we have.”

“So is there any known reason why she did this?  Did she do this on behalf of someone else or was she contracted to do this, or was it a misunderstanding that happened to do with something else?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Well this is something that we are still trying to establish, as we know that Mr. Lipka had no, has not been involved in any kind of illegal activities, nor had he mentioned that anybody was threatening him or he had any dispute with anybody before the incident happened.”
