DOE Lifts Stop Order Against Businessman Haisam Diab

Construction has resumed at Sand Lighter’s promenade in Belize City. A stop order issued by the Department of Environment in October to businessman Haisam Diab has been lifted.  The letter advising Diab that construction can resume was sent on Monday and works are currently underway. The stop order was issued after DOE raised concerns over the proper disposal of sewer and garbage. Diab has indicated that Belize Waste Control will take care of the garbage and he plans to connect to the sewer system for the proper disposal of sewer. The construction is being done along the seaside, beside the south end of the Ramada Princess Hotel, and when completed it is supposed to be a pizza parlor. The Belize City Council entered into a thirteen-year lease agreement with Ekaterina Diab at two thousand dollars per month.
