Elroy Flores Dies Less Than a Day After Being Released from Southern Regional Hospital

Elroy Flores

The passing of Elroy Flores, an employee of the Dangriga Town Council, is the second death reportedly due to negligence at the Southern Regional Hospital.  Flores, a member of the Southern Workers Union, died within twenty-four hours of being released from the facility, after being told by a doctor that he was clear to return home.  His sudden demise has baffled many, including his brothers at the Southern Workers Union, since it came on the heels of the death of twenty-year-old Jayeisha Parchue.

“It’s related to the continuing increase of death, primarily the death of one of our members, Mr. Elroy Flores.  Mr. Elroy Flores visited the hospital the day of his death when the practitioner or internist explained to him that he’s okay, he will reduce his medication from five to two and said to Mr. Flores, “Mr. Flores, you can go home now, we believe you are well.”  It is inconceivable for a practitioner or an internist, whomsoever he may be, to randomly assess an individual and just say to him, you are well, go home.  That same day Mr. Flores died.  So we find that as negligence of the Southern Regional Hospital.”

“There’s an issue in the south, we are dying, our people are dying, they go to the hospital or wherever, it’s a problem to really reach the power, right.  So right now one of our clients dead, just like that.  Dehn send he home and within twenty-four hours ih dead.  Now weh kinda doctors we got weh di come een and just di cut we up and di bore we up and then at di end a di day, yoh go home and dead.”
