Police and F.B.I. Investigating the Death of Claire Rigdon

Joseph Myvett

American National forty-nine-year-old Claire Elizabeth Rigdon was found dead in her swimming pool at her Consejo property in Corozal last Sunday. According to her husband, Robely Smith Rigdon, he and his wife were socializing that afternoon around four. He told police that he fell asleep and when he woke up around eight in the night, he found Claire floating in the nude face down in the pool.  She was pulled out of the pool and Robely tried to resuscitate her.  There were no visible signs of injury on the body, but police told the press today that a post-mortem revealed that Claire died from asphyxiation due to drowning, but she also suffered trauma to the left and right shoulders. ACP Joseph Myvett says that the F.B.I. is assisting with the investigation.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“The doctor’s concluded that she died by asphyxiation by drowning, as well as multiple trauma incidental death.”

“Was her husband questioned?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Well, certainly he was questioned in relation to this investigation. We have also solicited and had the participation of the F.B.I. as a part of this investigation which is ongoing.”

“Regarding the trauma, where on her body did you find trauma?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“It was on the left and right shoulder, I believe.”

“And this is not something consistent with drowning?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Not according to the post-mortem examination.”
