Belize’s Finest, Chaa Creek: Belize Luxury Resort

As part of this year’s B.T.B. Familiarization Tour, the media was taken to Chaa Creek: Belize Luxury Resort in the Cayo District. The resorts boast top notch accommodations with great customer services and its award winning relationship with its surrounding communities. Chaa Creek offers an unforgettable experience which News Five’s Hipolito Novelo got over the weekend.

Established in 1981, Chaa Creek: Belize Luxury Resort started off with a single hut. Fast forward more than three decades later; it is one of the world’s most eco-friendly resorts.

“Never had any idea or imagination or dream that this would once become what it is today. Today it has become an example of sustainable tourism not only in Belize but in the region and worldwide.”

The resort sits on a four hundred acre nature reserve along the majestic Macal River. The atmosphere is relaxing but buzzing with activities. The resort prides itself on its sustainable practices.

We host over seven thousand students a year and what we do is that we bring students from all over the county, including international as well. Bring them to our natural history center, butterfly farm and with our naturalist guides they go through the three R’s: reduce, recycle and reuse.”

There is also the two R’s- rest and relaxation which is what Chaa Creek also offers.

We are offering here accommodations that meet certain eco sustainable requirements and within those accommodations we have different types. We have villas. We have suites. We also have budget accommodations which are the can-casitas located ten minutes away from our main lodge. We also offer onsite activities.”

Those activities include horseback riding, canoeing, RTV Rain Forest safari, a walk through the medicinal trail and the relaxing experience of being surrounded by dozens of blue morpho butterflies.

“So coming to Chaa Creek is not only booking accommodations and going somewhere to spend the night. You come to Chaa Creek and you basically open the doors to so many exciting, moving and memorable adventures. For Example the option of getting on a horse, going to the Mayan farm, picking you produce, coming back to the lodge and having your fresh organic salad prepare for you, in front of you as well. We have the RTV rain forest safari, Ms. Macal River boat tours. So basically we have about ten to fifteen different activities for Belizeans to enjoy.”

Between June and November Belizeans can access a special summer package which includes breakfast, a four course dinner, canoeing, hiking, early morning bird watching, butterfly farm experience and a tour of the natural history center for one hundred, ninety nine Belize dollars per person per night.
