Coast Guard’s Criminal Past Comes Back to Haunt Him

Lee Charles Busano

The criminal past of a current coast guard officer is being brought back to life after it was reported that Belizean-born British soldier Lee Charles Busano is back in Belize and serving in one of Belize’s security arms. Three years ago, in 2015, Corporal Busano who was based at Weeton Army Camp in the U.K. as an Assistant Physical Training was accused of raping two women in a week and sexually assaulting another eight months later. The charges did not stand and Busano was acquitted. Busano told the court that all sexual activity which took place with any of the women was fully consensual. While he was freed of the charges, the jury which heard the alleged victims’ case accepted that Busano caused actual bodily harm on one of his alleged victims. He is accused of head-butting ‘a young mother repeatedly in the face – leaving her with injuries to the bridge of her nose’. He served eight months behind bars and has since been in Belize. Busano, also known to be a bodybuilder, is a member of the Belize Coast Guard which has many people questioning whether or not the Belize Coast Guard knew of Busano’s criminal past or if Busano made no mention of it. While we were unable to get a comment from the Belize Coast Guard, on Monday Busano posted on his Facebook a lengthy status which reads in part, (Quote) “From 2002 as far as I can remember I never owe anybody anything…do anybody wrong…I was a compulsive womanizer yes but that’s nothing to boast about and be proud of…” (Unquote)  Commander of the Coast Guard Admiral John Borland responded, (Quote) “You are blessed! Keep your head up and stay in the fight. Your persistence will pay off down the road.” (Unquote)
