Illegal Logging Operation Busted in San Felipe, Toledo

Joseph Myvett

Police busted a logging operation in the southern village of San Felipe, Toledo. On Wednesday, a joint patrol between police and the Forestry Department led to the discovery of three thousand feet of illegally logged lumber. Several persons were also detained in the area, and according to Assistant Commissioner of Police Joseph Myvett they are being interviewed by the personnel from the Forestry Department.

ACP Joseph Myvett, Head, National Crimes Investigation Branch

“Officers discovered six San Felipe residents involved in the illegal logging. As a result, some three thousand feet of lumber was confiscated; however, those persons were not detained because I believe that forestry is conducting further investigation into this matter.”

“How did the police know it was not a legitimate logging operation?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Well they were accompanied by forestry officers on the operation.”

“So now is this something that law enforcement—I know usually you all don’t get involved in this, but is this something that you all were made aware of by forestry?”

ACP Joseph Myvett

“Yes, they came for police assistance to go on the operation and from time to time, we do accompany Forestry Department on these operations.”
