Belizeans Living in North & South Carolina Brace for Hurricane Florence

Belizeans living in North and South Carolina in the United States are bracing for the impact of Hurricane Florence. Belize’s Ambassador to the U.S., Daniel Gutierrez, issued an advisory to Belizeans living in the area, stating that all Belizeans in the path of the incoming storm are to follow the directives pertinent to local and state authorities. Belizeans there are asked to take all necessary precautions as advised by authorities. They are told not to take the storm lightly. Florence is a Category three hurricane ‘steadily’ approaching the U.S. East Coast at sixteen miles per hour Wednesday. The National Hurricane Centre says that Florence’s centre will approach the coast of North Carolina or South Carolina in the hurricane warning area Thursday and Friday, and move slowly near the coastline through Saturday. Meanwhile, here at home meteorologists are keeping a close eye on Tropical Storm Isaac. As of today, Isaac had winds of sixty miles per hour but could fall apart this weekend after moving into the Caribbean. It is moving at twenty miles per hour and experts say that the hurricane centre might gradually weaken over the day or two, which means that it is not expected to pose a threat to Belize.
