ComPol Categorically Denies Any Relation to Norman Anthony

Allen Whylie

Is Commissioner of Police Allen Whylie related to disgraced Police Constable Norman Anthony?  It’s a claim that he categorically refuted during a press conference earlier today, admitting that while the officer is also from Lemonal Village, he is in fact a very distant relative of his wife.  ComPol Whylie also spoke of the quantity of drugs that may have been transported in larger aircrafts that landed in the north earlier in the year, aside from the alleged role of police officers in drug activity.

Allen Whylie, Commissioner of Police

“He is no relative of mine.  Contrary to what Facebook is saying that da my brother-in-law or my cousin, he is not my cousin.  He’s a distant relative of my wife and when I say distant, not a first, not a second, not a third cousin, but they are from the village and so almost everybody in the village are related but he’s no relative of mine.  If he was, I would not deny it and he would still be responsible for his own actions. You know the size of the jet is obviously much bigger than the CESSNA plane that we found.  We also know that those planes, that jet had been processed and the forensic people, again, had not detected any signs of any cocaine, so we don’t know what may have been the cargo but it is right to speculate that it could have been cocaine.  In terms of police suspected involvement, we have good and we have bad in the department just as in the rest of society and whilst I cannot say that that constable is involved, an investigation has been launched.  You must remember that he is presumed to be innocent, he wasn’t found at the airstrip, he wasn’t found at the plane.  He was found heading towards that general direction and he was spoken to and the team who spoke with him wasn’t satisfied in terms of his response to questions they put to him and so they used their judgment to detain him.  But he is presumed to be innocent and an investigation has been launched to see if he is involved and if any other police officers are involved.”
