CWU President Says Members Need Representation

Evan “Mose” Hyde

CWU President Evan ‘Mose’ Hyde says it is the duty of the union to represents its members during all disputes or at the request of the members. He says that their presence at any meeting is to look after the best interest of its members.

Evan “Mose” Hyde, President, Christian Workers’ Union

“Our presence there was not to be in any way disrespectful. It was simply to fulfill the mandate that we have to our members. Of the thirteen people who are employed there, twelve of them are Christian Workers’ Union members. These are people who pay their dues. And they pay their dues because they want to be a part of an organization that can be there for them when they have the types of concerns that they have had. It is immensely disturbing that this is the treatment that the Christian Workers’ Union received from the Belize City Council on this occasion. We really want them to examine their response to our request and for them to understand Christian Workers Union we are not exceeding our reach. This is our responsibility. This is our mandate. This is the way it works and we really wanted to mark this occasion by going publicly with our discontent.

The Belize City Council has yet to respond to the CWU’s assertions.
