San Jose Villager Knocked Down and Killed

A villager from San Jose, Corozal was knocked down and killed on Thursday night sometime after seven o’clock. Sixty-three-year-old cane farmer Ermitiano Gonzalez was walking along the Phillip Goldson Highway when between miles sixty-three and sixty-four, he was stuck by a vehicle heading from Orange Walk to Corozal. When police responded to the scene of the road traffic accident, they observed a pickup parked on the highway with Gonzalez’s motionless body under the vehicle. The pickup was driven by thirty-four-year-old optometrist Freddy Nicholson, who has since been served with a notice of intended prosecution. Blood samples were taken from Nicholson, while police investigation continues.
