Gunmen Open Fire, but Justin Banks Escapes Death on Nurse Findley Crescent

Alejandro Cowo

Belize City police are investigating a shooting incident during which twenty-one-year-old Justin Banks was shot by a pair of men on a motorcycle.  It is unclear whether Banks was the victim of a random attack or he was targeted by his assailants who caught up with him as he rode a bicycle from Nurse Findley’s Crescent into Faber’s Road.  According to police, a motive for the Wednesday night shooting is yet to be ascertained.

“The other shooting happened last night just about 9:30, Mr. Justin Banks was riding his bicycle on Nurse Findley Crescent.  When he was about to reach the corner of Nurse Findley Crescent and Faber’s Road he was approached by two male persons on motorcycle, where one of the persons on the motorcycle fired several shots at his direction.  As a result, he received an injury to his left shoulder.  He was admitted and is in a stable condition at this moment.”

“A motive?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“So far we don’t have a motive and we do not have an identity of the suspect. “

“Do police have any ideas as to what may have, what is your investigation saying as to the shooting itself and how it unfolded sir?”

ASP Alejandro Cowo

“Well so far we have spoken to the victim but he cannot establish exactly the reason why he was shot and he had mentioned that he does not have any problem with anybody.  So it is something that we are still looking into, if it is gang-related or if it’s something else.”

“So he’s not known to police?”
