Dean Samuels Resigns From Government Job to Run for UDP Port Loyola Convention

Dean Samuels

Former Belize City Councilor Dean Samuels has officially resigned from his government job in the Ministry of Works. He had to do so in order to contest the U.D.P.’s Port Loyola Convention. He is going up against Attorney General Michael Peyrefitte, former Belize City Councilor Philip Willoughby and AC. Castillo. Samuels summoned the media this morning to share his good news and in doing so he didn’t throw shade or rocks at his opponents, he threw boulders. According to Samuels, Willoughby is not committed to the voters, Peyrefitte is ‘dumping’ himself on the Port Loyola constituency and Castillo is non-existent. He also took a jab at the current sitting Area Representative, Anthony Martinez, saying that Port Loyola needs upliftment. Here is how he explained that he is the right man for the job.

Dean Samuels, U.D.P. Candidate, Port Loyola

“I personally believe that Port Loyola needs upliftment. We do not need a bunch of politicians coming in here every time, giving you story and telling you want you want to here. That is politics. That system has failed us totally. That system has always failed us because at the end of the day, nothing changed and status quo remains the same.  People get use as pawns. The bottom line is that Port needs positive upliftment and the only way that could happen that if people really elect and put people in place who have people interest and the love of people at heart. That is the truth. How will that happen? People need to get up and register. That is the bottom line. Get up and register. People in Port Loyola had a serious decision to make. They have to make a decision of at the end of the day they will continue with this same cycle or at the end of the day they will push for people who love people; politicians on a whole who want to see better for people. At the end of the day, a new and improved UDP. The face of politics needs to change. At the end of the day we need to start think about we as the people and start to elect people who really want to represent people. For me, we can always continue shove our finger in the ink and by the time that ink dry a level of hopeless come back and step in. You know why that stepped in? Because the man who you just elect went about his business. The status quo remains the same. Those are the things needs to change. I’ll b e honest with you I have always been in Port Loyola and I have always been in there, gaining love, gaining people’s trust, and providing services to people because that is what I do. I am genuine about that. I did not jump up today and say I want to run for Port. I will not knock my boy Mike Peyrefitte but I did not jump up and say I want to be Party leader and be Prime Minister and come dump myself on the people of Port. No I don’t do that. Not to chance my ‘lee bwai’ Willoughby. He is a ‘lee bwai’ that I love. I like his work ethics but he convinced the people of Albert for two years, made the people fall in love with him. When they fell in love with him the party made his walk off. He do it for his own personal reason which is his business. But that does not show conviction. That does not show that at the end of the day you have the people’s best interest. For me, if it was my interest, I would have kept my job and walked about my business and forget the people of Port Loyola. If I go down, I will go down for fighting for people. I will go down believing that people is what it is about. I will sleep better at night knowing I gave it a chance. I will tell you, Port Loyola I am sacrificing for you. What are you doing for yourself? You need to get up and register.”

“Sir you are not throwing stones. You are throwing boulders. You are singling out Mr. Mike Peyrefitte. You are calling out Mr. Philip Willoughby and I guess you forgot about AC Shane Castillo as many have and you have also singling out the current area rep. You are saying there is no upliftment in Port Loyola.”

Dean Samuels

“No. I would never sit here and never throw underneath the bus. I am being real and I am saying there is so much more than can be done.”
